A civil service position for Oceanographer/Programmer is available
in the Department of Oceanography at the Naval Postgraduate School.
The purpose of this position is to provide support for the computational
and scientific development, use, analysis, and maintenance of the NPS
Coupled Arctic Ice-Ocean Model to be used as a new version of the Navy
Polar Ice Prediction System (PIPS 3.0).

Expertise in programming in Fortran and use of modern high performance
computers is highly desirable, as is knowledge of numerical modeling of sea
ice and/or ocean circulation. An applicant will also prepare technical and
data reports and contribute to preparation of scientific papers and
presentations. Some technical support of graduate students involved in the
arctic modeling effort may be required. The deadline to apply for this
position is November 30, 1998 and its announcement number is DE 98-065. The
GS level will be determined depending on qualifications.
