GRADE/SALARY: $1,266.40 Bi-Weekly, (DOE)

WORK HOURS: 8 AM - 5 PM Monday through Friday

JOB PURPOSE:
Applicants will join faculty and researchers who are active in conducting
research in the various disciplines pursued at the International Arctic
Research Center (IARC) (see http://www.iarc.uaf.edu) in research related to
the detection of contemporary environmental change and interactions and feed
backs in Atmosphere-ice-oceans interactions. This will include working on
one or more funded projects in these research areas under the guidance of
senior faculty members.

REQUIREMENTS:
* Ph.D. degree (already received, or having completed all requirements and
awaiting graduation) in a discipline appropriate to the above listed
research areas.
* Sufficient relevant experience to contribute significantly to a specific
project.
* Experience with the use of computers and other appropriate equipment to
conduct the research proposed.

These appointments are funded by Japan's Frontier Research Program for
Global Change (see http://www.frontier.esto.or.jp) and are expected to be of
two years duration, initially. If this appointment extends beyond one year,
subsequent years, for purposes of collective bargaining, a union will
represent this position. At that time, the successful candidate will be
obligated to pay to the union an agency fee as a condition of employment.
