Dear Colleagues,

NSF announces a new opportunity to support fellowships and associated
training that will enable graduate students and advanced undergraduates in
the sciences, mathematics, engineering, and technology to serve in K-12
schools as resource persons. Called "NSF Graduate Teaching Fellows in K-12
Education," or GK-12, this opportunity allows academic institutions apply
for the awards to support fellowship activities. The deadline for proposal
submission is May 5, 1999. Letters of intent are requested, but not
required, by April 1, 1999.

The cognizant program officer for GK-12 is Dr. Dorothy L. Stout, Division of
Undergraduate Education, telephone 703-306-1620, e-mail dstout [at] nsf.gov.
