POSITION OPENING FOR
ECOLOGICAL MONITORING PROGRAM MANAGER
AT DENALI NATIONAL PARK AND PRESERVE

Denali National Park and Preserve is seeking applicants for the position of
Program Manager for the park's Long Term Ecological Monitoring (LTEM)
Program. Denali's LTEM Program is an extensive multidisciplinary effort,
the purpose of which is to understand, detect, and monitor significant
long-term changes in a subarctic ecosystem that includes portions of both
interior and southcentral Alaska. As such, the program incorporates
aspects of many of the natural sciences, including: plant and animal
biology, soils, bedrock and surficial geology, hydrology, atmospherics,
meteorology, and glaciology.

Denali is seeking applications from qualified individuals with the ability
to lead a diverse staff of scientists, experience in conducting research in
high-latitude ecosystems, a strong background in one or more of the
disciplines mentioned above, or a background in landscape ecology. This is
a professional level staff position in Denali's Division of Research and
Resource Preservation (at the GS-11/12 level). The program manager provides
scientific expertise and oversight, directs the design and integration of
numerous research and monitoring projects, maintains professional and
technical contacts with scientists from other agencies and institutions,
coordinates the activities of park staff and cooperators working on the
LTEM Program, and prepares reports, journal articles, and budgets.
