RUSSIAN ACADEMY of SCIENCES SCIENTIFIC COUNSIL ON THE EARTH CRYOLOGY
International Conference
RHYTHMS OF NATURAL PROCESSES IN THE EARTH CRYOSPHERE
12-15 May, 2000, Pushchino, Russia

The International Conference "Rhythms of Natural Processes in the Earth
Cryosphere" will be held on May 12-15, 2000 at the Institute for Basic
Biological Problems, Russian Academy of Sciences (Pushchino, Moscow Region).
Abstracts of presentations (not more than 250 words, typed at .5 line
spacing using Times New Roman font, 12 points) should be forwarded in
English and Russian (by e-mail or on a floppy disc) not later 30 January
2000 to the following address:

Dr. Ludmila A. Sukhodolskaya
Scientific Council on Earth Cryology
117312, Moscow, ul. Fersmana, 11/2, kv. 68.
Telephone: (095)1245422
Fax: (095)1356582
kriozem [at] glasnet.ru

Each author is entitled to submit to the Conference not more than two
reports. The Abstracts will be published and circulated among participants
by the Conference opening and the Conference proceedings will come out later
(in Russian) in the Journal "Kriosfera Zemli" (The Earth Cryosphere).
It is planned: to conduct two plenary sessions (on the first and last
Conference days) and to work in sections the rest of the time.
The authors of presentations in sections are insistently requested to
prepare their materials as posters which will be discussed subsequently at
sessions in sections.

On 15 May 2000, there will be a joint session with the XII Symposium on
Glaciology (which will also be held at Pushchino on May 15-19, 2000) and a
session on "Isotopic-Geochemical Studies of Ice in Frozen Sediments". In
addition, during the Conference the following round-table discussions are
planned; "Circumpolar Active Layer Monitoring" (CALM) and "Thermometry of
Permafrost in Boreholes".
