CALL FOR POSTERS

** Poster Abstract Deadline: April 1, 2000 **

The Atlantic Coast Contaminants Workshop is accepting abstracts for posters
from Workshop Registrants. Space is limited and posters will be selected on
a competitive basis. Posters should address critical issues and themes of
the conference.

STUDENTS THAT ARE FIRST AUTHORS OF INVITED POSTERS WILL BE
GIVEN FIRST PRIORITY FOR MERI TRAVEL GRANTS.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR ABSTRACT PREPARATION AND SUBMITTAL

Abstracts should include a statement of objectives, brief description of
methods used, concise presentation of results, and a summary of
conclusions/inferences drawn. Abstracts must be submitted as an
attached-message e-mail saved as a Microsoft Word 6.0 document. Abstracts
will only be accepted up until April 1, 2000 to permit peer review
evaluation of all abstracts. FAXED abstracts will NOT be accepted.

Send Your Abstract By E-Mail Only Once, please. You will be notified of
receipt within 1 week by email. Please do not contact us about your
abstract until at least 2 weeks have elapsed following submission. Authors
will be notified of acceptance/rejection no later than May 1, 2000.

ABSTRACT FORMAT

Accuracy and appearance of the abstract are the responsibility of the
author(s). Please follow instructions carefully.

Abstracts, including author and title lines, are to be no more than 500
words. Longer Abstracts Will Be Edited. The preferred font is Times Roman.
The title should be in 12 pt font and text should be in 10 pt font,
single-spaced.

Include at the top of the file the following information:
1 Author list
List all authors of the poster: First name, middle initial, last name.
2 Key Words
List four key words to be used to identify your poster.
3 Author to contact (the presenting author)

Complete mailing address
Phone number
Fax number
E-mail address
4 Who will present the poster?
5 If your abstract is invited, please indicate here, and list who invited
your abstract.
6 Skip a line and follow the format shown in the example below.

ABSTRACT LAYOUT

  • Type the title of abstract in bold.
  • Leave a blank line between title and names of author(s)
  • For authors, list the first name, middle initial, then last name
  • In cases of multiple authors, use superscript numbers to indicate
    institutions
  • Include the name of institution and full addresses of the author(s)
  • Skip a line before beginning the text of the abstract.

Do Not Indent any part of the abstract.

The text should be a single paragraph.
Abstracts must be submitted in Microsoft Word format

STUDENT TRAVEL GRANTS

MERI encourages graduate student participation in the Atlantic Coast
Contaminants Workshop and has committed funds in the form of 10 Student
Travel Grants to help defray the travel expenses associated with the Bar
Harbor meeting. Students must be currently enrolled in a degree-granting
program at a recognized college or university. Applicants need to possess a
masters degree or equivalent, or be advanced graduate students. Please
include your request for a scholarship in your application letter and
describe need. Submit applications to:
