An invitation to submit a proposal for funding to pursue an
interdisciplinary doctoral degree.

The Economic and Social Research Council and the Natural Environmental
Research Council of the United Kingdom have recently announced a competition
for a generous studentship for a post-graduate student to pursue an
interdisciplinary degree. The competition is aimed at UK students who will
receive a Master's degree in 2000.

Our group of Arctic anthropologists at the University of Aberdeen
would welcome a proposal for interdisciplinary doctoral research in
any area or topic in the circumpolar or boreal North.

Applications must be submitted by the end of March.
