The user survey described in this Arctic Info is for funded investigators
in the National Science Foundation's Arctic System Science Program. In an
attempt to fully reach the community of ARCSS investigators, the survey is
being advertised through the Arctic Info listserver. Please direct any
questions about the survey process to either Rudy Dichtl
dichtl [at] kryos.colorado.edu, ARCSS Data Manager at NSIDC, or to Jack Kruse
jkruse [at] geo.umass.edu, chair of the ARCSS Committee.

MESSAGE FROM JACK KRUSE
Now is the time to spend 5-10 minutes to give the folks at the National
Snow and Ice Data Center some feedback on the Arctic Data Coordination
Center. The survey is on the web at
http://arcss.colorado.edu/questionnaire.

Jack Kruse

INFORMATION ABOUT THE SURVEY AND ITS PURPOSE
Dear ARCSS Grantees,

1. The ARCSS Steering Committee and the NSF, ARCSS Program Manager

(Mike Ledbetter) suggested that I, the ARCSS Data Manager prepare a
questionnaire to determine the state of ARCSS data archiving and its
effectiveness in interacting with you the principal investigator (PI) or
Co-PI. To accomplish this, I have prepared a questionnaire that you may
respond too either anonymously or, if you wish, with your name and
address. Please take the time to fill out the questionnaire as
completely and thoughtfully as possible. Note that the responses will
be kept anonymous by being sent to Jack Kruse of the University of
Massachusetts who will compile the statistics of your responses. We here
at the NSIDC/ARCSS will take the responses and try to formulate an
improved program that will, hopefully, benefit all ARCSS investigators
now and in the future. The statistical data will be shared with the
ARCSS Steering Committee and the ARCSS Program Manager at NSF.

  2. A second request is that you visit our ARCSS web site at

http://arcss.colorado.edu and search for your own name in are "NEW" ARCSS
Address Book. If you find that your information requires a change or a
correction, please do so on-line. If you are an ARCSS investigator, or
in some way a participant in the ARCSS program, and not able to find
your listing, please fill out the Address Book Entry Form to have your
contact information added to the address book.

  3. In order for us to efficiently support your data when the

time comes to archive it, please include us on your mailing list when sending
out copies of your papers or reprints on the data you have collected
during your field trips. Send two copies (one for the NSIDC Library and
one for ARCSS office). Send to the NSIDC address below.

  4. I wish to thank you in advance for taking time to respond to

the above requested items. Your participation will help make our
services better. Therefore - please respond!

Rudy
