For more information see http://www.svs.is.

This book contains ten papers presented at an academic conference
organised by the Stefansson Arctic Institute and the University of
Akureyri. The general theme of this book is how the small Vestnorden
nations - the Faroe Islands, Greenland, and Iceland will cope in an
increasingly global world, characterised by rapid technical and economic
transformation and socio-ecologicial changes. The book is divided into
three themes:
1. Vestnorden Societies and Rapid Change: Global Processes, Local
Effects and Sustainable Development,
2. Rural Development and Northern Universities and Colleges, and
3. Communication and Culture in the Vestnorden.
