NSF's Office of Polar Programs is seeking qualified applicants for the
position of Associate Program Manager in the Arctic System Science
Program. This position will be filled under the Intergovernmental
Personnel Act (IPA) as soon as possible. IPA applicants must be
permanent, career employees of their current employer for at least 90
days prior to entering into a mobility assignment agreement with a
federal agency. Duration of the assignment is one year, although it may
be extended for a second year. Reimbursement of salary and other related
costs are negotiated between NSF and the individual's institution.

The Associate Program Manager will have primary responsibilities which
involve proposal evaluation, project development and support, program
planning, and related administrative duties.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent experience in one or more of
the following: biological or chemical oceanography, terrestrial or
marine ecology, biogeochemistry, geology, geophysics or related
disciplines and four years of successful research experience beyond the
Ph.D. is required. An understanding of polar processes in the Arctic and
global change is preferred. Interest in applying natural/physical
science results to problems of societal relevance in the Arctic is very
desirable.
