We are seeking an enthusiastic Arctic adventurer to assist with the
operations and maintenance of the NSF radar facility in Kangerlussuaq,
Greenland.

POSITION: Technician

LOCATION: Greenland

RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide technical, electronic, and computer support to project engineers
and scientists in fabricating, assembling, installing, testing, and
operating and maintaining sensitive scientific equipment at our field
site in Kangerlussuaq, Greenland. Good physical health is required to
lift moderate weights and assist site crew in routine maintenance of the
facility. Perform scheduled and non-scheduled radar and lidar
operations. Must be flexible in working hours.

Troubleshoot electronics problems and general facility equipment, as
needed. Assist site mechanic, as needed. Assist in PC and LAN
maintenance and possible administration. Work with specific software
programs and assist in the improvement and development of software for
specific instruments. The individual should also be prepared to solve
open-ended and sometimes ill-defined problems and troubleshooting often
poorly documented, one-of-a-kind scientific instruments.

QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of common electronic instruments such as voltmeters, analog
and digital oscilloscopes is required. Ability to operate more
sophisticated instruments such as spectrum and network analyzers and
digital analysis equipment is a plus. Knowledge of computers and
programming, especially PCs running Windows 98 and NT, is a positive
attribute.

Two years of applicable college or combination of education and
experience.

Position is located at the Sondrestrom radar facility near the town of
Kangerlussuaq, Greenland. Minimum duration of position is one year.
