1 May 2001 is the deadline for applications for the Dissertations
Initiative for the Advancement of Limnology and Oceanography (DIALOG)
described below:

The Dissertations Initiative for the Advancement of Limnology and
Oceanography or DIALOG Program was founded to introduce recent Ph.D.'s
to the broader community and reduce the barriers that limit the exchange
of information across the spectrum of aquatic science research,
freshwater-to-salt, basic and applied, tropical-to-polar. The program
collects and disseminates Ph.D. dissertation abstracts, manages an
electronic distribution list to disseminate career and other information
of interest to recent graduates, and organizes a biennial symposium to
foster interdisciplinary understanding and collaborations.

The next DIALOG symposium will be held 14-19 October 2001 at the
Bermuda Biological Station for Research. The deadline for applications
is 1 May 2001. Travel and on-site expenses are covered through the
sponsoring agencies (NASA, NOAA, NSF, ONR, and the European Commission).

The Dissertation Registry and Symposium application instructions are
available on the ASLO webpage. Participants are added to the DIALOG
distribution list when they register. See
http://www.aslo.org/dialog.html or go to http://www.aslo.org/
and click on the "DIALOG" button.
