The Alaska Geological Society, the University of Alaska Fairbanks
Geology and Geophysics Department, and the Alaska Division of Geological
and Geophysical Surveys will host the "What's New in Alaska Geology"
Technical Conference, 27 April 2001 in Fairbanks. Invited speakers are
scheduled. This is an excellent opportunity to present recent research
and advances in Alaska geosciences and meet with geoscientists. Accepted
submittals will be published in an AGS Abstracts volume, which will be
available at the conference and through AGS publications. Several
post-conference (Saturday, 28 April) field trips are scheduled: Fort
Knox, Healy Coal Mine area, and Permafrost Tunnel and Fairbanks area
Quaternary Geology.

This notice is to advise all potential presenters about formats and
requirements:
1) 15 minute Oral Presentation or Poster Session or Vendor Booth
($50.00)
2) Title and discipline (for example: Northern AK, Southern AK, Energy
Resources, Mineral Resources, Engineering Geology, Tectonics,
Paleontology)
3) Publishable abstract, 500 words or less (send in MS Word format; see
AGS web site for exact format and other details)
4) Author(s), Affiliation, Address (physical and electronic)

Year 2001 Technology Conference

Where: University of Alaska Fairbanks Natural Sciences Building

What: Thirty presentations describing recent and on-going geologic
research in Alaska and surrounding regions. Topics range from
tectonics to groundwater and cover areas from Barrow to Ketchikan.
Presentations include talks and posters by geoscientists from industry,
state and federal agencies, and students and faculty at UA.
