Dear Arctic Colleagues:

I will be serving the U.S. National Science Foundation in another
capacity beginning in September 2001, as a program director for the
Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research - EPSCoR:
http://www.ehr.nsf.gov/epscor/. However, I will continue to manage the
Arctic Social Sciences Program until the Office of Polar Programs finds
a replacement.

Please check the NSF web page (http://www.nsf.gov/home/menus/jobs.htm)
and other arctic and social sciences news sources for a future
advertisement of the position. It is an exciting opportunity. The Arctic
Social Sciences Program is on firm ground. This year the program budget
increased from about $1.8 million to $2.3 million (including the travel
and logistics support we are now able to offer researchers). The
projects include an array of disciplines and interdisciplinary
combinations, the number of proposals keep rising, and new
collaborations between researchers and arctic communities are forming.

Thank you for your interest in the program, and feel free to contact me
with any questions you may have.

Sincerely,

Fae Korsmo
