SCOPE OF THE MEETING
1) To present and discuss the latest results regarding biological
effects of POPs and mercury on arctic wildlife and humans

2) Summarize current state of knowledge on POP and mercury effects to:
- emphasise future research and monitoring needs
- provide relevant information to decision-makers

Contributions within the following topics are envisaged:

  • What is special about the Arctic: emaciation and POP toxicokinetics

  • Biological effects POPs in humans and animals: from in vitro
    experiments to epidemiological research

    • general effects
    • endocrine disruption
    • effects on reproduction
    • behavioural impacts
    • immunotoxicology
    • ecological studies
    • biomarkers
  • Biological effects of mercury

  • Combined effects by multiple contaminants/multiple stressors

  • Risk assessment
