You are cordially invited to attend the 3rd Workshop on Remote Sensing
of Land Ice and Snow of the European Association of Remote Sensing
Laboratories (EARSeL), which is to be held at the Department of
Geography, University of Bern, Switzerland, from 11-13 March 2002.

The theme of the 2002 workshop is: "Observing our Cryosphere from Space:
Techniques and Methods for Monitoring Snow and Ice with regard to
Climate Change." Presentations are encouraged on all fields of
environmental research and applications concerning snow and land ice, on
sensors and on sensor properties, systems calibration, atmospheric and
topographic corrections, modelling and data assimilation, correlation
with in situ observations, etc. The workshop offers the possibility for
sessions covering preparations of and results from field campaigns in
Antarctica, mountains of the world and the northern polar region.

CALL FOR PAPERS
Papers will be presented orally and by poster. Authors who prefer a
poster presentation should notify the organiser. An abstract of
approximately 500 words (one A4 page) should be forwarded preferably by
email no later than 1 November 2001 to:

Abstracts should begin with an introduction in which the state-of-art is
summarised. The main part should present the environmental questions
addressed and their context, analyse the methodology used and the
results obtained with reference to existing papers. The conclusions
should identify precisely the advancement made scientifically and/or
potential applications. Abstracts should be typed on A4-format paper
(29.7x21 cm), on one side only, single spacing, margins of 2.5 cm top,
bottom, left, and right. Title, author(s), and affiliation(s) and
contact details should be centred at the top of the page. Use Times New
Roman 12 p if possible. Workshop papers accepted and presented will be
published in the workshop proceedings.

TIME TABLE
Abstracts should be received by: 1 November 2001
Authors notified and instructions by: 1 December 2001
Preliminary programme will be available: end of December 2001
