VECO Polar Resources Offers a second 4-day Field Safety Training course:

Due to positive response for the 4-day field training course to be held
at UMASS in Amherst on 12-15 March 2002, the National Science Foundation
has requested that VECO Polar Resources offer a second course to arctic
researchers.

VECO Polar Resources (VPR) is offering another 4-day field safety
training course to researchers on 2-5 April 2002, in California (VPR is
currently working on an exact location for the course). The course will
be facilitated by LTR Training Systems (http://www.survivaltraining.com)
and will include two days of wilderness medicine training, one day of
helicopter/bear safety training, and one day of field skills specific to
working in tundra areas.

This course is sponsored through VECO Polar Resources by the National
Science Foundation and is open to 25 NSF-funded arctic researchers
(currently there are eleven spaces available). This includes Principal
Investigators, Graduate Students, Research Assistants, and Undergraduate
Field Assistants. The course will be free of charge for all qualified
researchers. Travel assistance/per diem is available. Interested
Principal Investigators should send an e-mail message to
jill.ferris [at] veco.com with the following information:

Name
Affiliation
Email
NSF Proposal Number
Names of those you would like to have attend

Please note that VECO Polar Resources will also be sponsoring a series
of 1-day helicopter/bear safety courses at Toolik Field Station in June
2002. More information on that will be made available in the near
future.
