The Transport and Effects Programme

The Transport and Effects Programme is a research programme about
contaminants in the Kara and Barents Seas. It has been a part of a
scientific collaboration between Norway and Russia. First phase of the
programme is terminated. All the projects have been evaluated before
being accepted by the programme. They are reported in a standardised way
at the
projects web site: http://www.npolar.no/transeff/. Here you can also
find most of the scientific reports presented to the programme. So far,
several of them have not been published in scientific journals yet.

The programme is highly relevant for the upcoming AMAP assessment on
pathways, levels and effects of contaminants.

The programme is now in phase 2. Two integrated projects work further on
the material from phase 1 and will summarise results in order to give
recomendations on monitoring of contaminants. The final results from
these will be presented at the second AMAP International symposium in
Rovaniemi, Finland, from 1-4 October 2002.
