CHAPMAN CONFERENCE ON HIGH-LATITUDE OCEAN PROCESSES

An AGU Chapman Conference on High-Latitude Ocean Processes has been
scheduled to take place on 26-29 August 2002 in Montreal, Canada.
This conference will address high-latitude, particularly arctic and
sub-arctic, oceanic processes and their impacts on the global ocean and
climate. Recent research programs such as SHEBA, LSDCE, and ACSYS have
advanced the understanding of high-latitude processes both in the open
and ice-covered oceans. Some programs have completed their observational
phases and entered analyses phases, while others are ongoing. The
conference will provide an opportunity to review what has been learned
from these experiments and from related experiments of the 1980's such
as MIZEX, GSP, CEAREX, LINEX, and LeadEx. Future directions in
high-latitude ocean processes research and upcoming programs such as,
SEARCH and ASOF will also be discussed. Additional information on the
conference, including registration and housing guidance, is available
online at http://www.agu.org/meetings/chapman.html
