Chief Executive Producer, Arctic Centre, University of Lapland

The Arctic Centre seeks Chief Executive Producer to lead the renewing
process of the science centre which is the key project within the
strategic development process of the Centre.

The Arctic Centre of the University of Lapland, on the Arctic Circle, is
an international institute of high level expertise on multi-disciplinary
research, electronic and library information services. Its science
centre exhibition displays the environment, peoples and common arctic
issues today. The Arctic Centre has a goal to grow as the European
"Centre of Excellence on Northern Dimension and Arctic Knowledge".

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Exhibition professional with strong experience on science centre work;
- Leadership abilities and competence to communicate both with staff,
companies at high level, public servants and have a flair for selling
ideas;
- Understanding of broad range of exhibition media from traditional
museum exhibits to modern interactive and experimental multimedia
installations;
- Understanding of research and firm experience of popularizing science
and ability to combine issues in new ways;
- Good oral and writing abilities;
- Effective fund raising ability and expertise including knowledge on EU
framework program funding and sponsoring;
- Contacts to science centres in other countries;
- Co-operative attitude and experience on leading projects and team work;
- Academic background;
- Creative, independent and enterprising working habits.

The Arctic Centre offers a challenging and stimulating working
atmosphere within its diverse and international staff of 60 people. You
will be the leader of our science centre exhibition group. Our
facilities are situated in the first-rate Arktikum-building by the
Ounasjoki river, which is visited by almost 100,000 tourists yearly,
half of them being foreigners around the world. The position is
temporary. Continuation is negotiable.
