Dear Colleague,

I am writing to invite your participation in the ARCUS 15th Annual
Meeting and Arctic Forum 2003 in Arlington, Virginia, 28-29 April 2003.
All sessions will be held at the DoubleTree Hotel-Crystal City in
Arlington, VA. In addition to highlighting important arctic research
through the Arctic Forum, the ARCUS annual meeting serves to gather
together members of the arctic research community and key agency
personnel and policy makers, as well as ARCUS member institution
representatives, the Board of Directors, and the staff of ARCUS. Online
registration and other information about the meeting is available at:
http://www.arcus.org/annual_meeting_03/index.html

PRESENT A POSTER AT THE ARCTIC FORUM
You are invited to submit an abstract to present one or more posters at
the Arctic Forum, scheduled for 28-29 April 2003. The online abstract
submission process is available at:

ARCTIC FORUM THEME
The theme of the 2003 Arctic Forum is "Responding to Global Change:
Resilience and Vulnerability in the Arctic Systems." You will find
information about the theme here:
http://www.arcus.org/annual_meeting_03/arctic_forum_focus.html

Igor Krupnik of the Smithsonian Institution and F. Stuart Chapin of the
University of Alaska Fairbanks will chair the Forum sessions, which will
include invited and contributed talks and posters by arctic researchers
and residents representing diverse disciplines, projects, programs, and
communities. Although the focus of the Forum is on resilience and
vulnerability in the arctic systems, posters on all aspects of arctic
research are encouraged and accepted.

The student recipients of the Seventh Annual ARCUS Award for Arctic
Research Excellence will present their award-winning papers during the
Forum as well. The detailed Arctic Forum agenda will be available soon
on the ARCUS web site.
