The Department of Anthropology at the University of Aberdeen, (Scotland)
announces a competition for a four-year doctoral fellowship valued at
approximately £14,000 ($18,200 USD) per annum.
The fellowship is to support a post-graduate student to complete a
research project on the ethnography, anthropology, or ethnoarchaeology
of hunters living in the Lake Baikal Region of Siberia. The funds are
provided by the Baikal Archaeology Project (University of Alberta) and
by the School of Social Science (University of Aberdeen). The award also
includes funds for fieldwork travel. The successful candidate would
work under the supervision of Dr. David Anderson. He or she would be
expected to do a small amount of tutorial teaching for the School as
well as primary library research for the Baikal Archaeology Project.

Please enclose a one page description of what research you would like to
undertake, and the names and addresses of two referees.
It is expected that successful candidates will have a good initial
degree in anthropology and will either have a working knowledge of
Russian or be prepared to study the language. To be granted the
fellowship the candidate will also have to apply and be admitted to the
post-graduate programme at the University of Aberdeen.
