The Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at the University of
Alberta, Edmonton, Canada, invites applications for a project manager
for the Canadian regional centre for the Global Land Ice Measurements
from Space project (see http://www.glims.org).
Primary job responsibilities include the construction of a GIS database
of all the glaciers in the Canadian Arctic, determination of recent
glacier changes, processing and orthorectification of satellite imagery,
and data management and archiving. There will also be opportunities for
investigating the dynamics of ice caps in the Canadian Arctic. Ideally,
this will be a post-doctoral position. The applicant should have a PhD
or equivalent experience in remote sensing and/or glaciology.
Familiarity with ENVI, ERDAS, ArcView and ArcIMS would be beneficial.
Applicants must possess excellent oral and written communication skills,
and are expected to take a lead in formulating new research directions
and priorities.
