The US Army Corps of Engineers, Engineer Research and Development
Center, is seeking a Director of its Cold Regions Research and
Engineering Laboratory (CRREL) in Hanover, NH. The salary will be from
$103,700 to $144,600 USD per annum.

BACKGROUND
CRREL is a nationally and internationally renowned research,
development, and engineering facility, whose mission is to advance and
apply cold regions science and engineering to provide all-season
solutions to the Department of Defense, the Army, and the Corps of
Engineers. CRREL develops solutions to cold-related problems and
extends these to all-seasons technologies in terrain condition modeling,
sensor effects, and vehicle movement. CRREL conducts Civil Works
research related to geographic information systems, remote sensing,
winter navigation, and flood control. CRREL has 300 employees plus
contractors, in the physical science and engineering disciplines, and
supporting staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES
The Director is responsible for strategic research and development
planning to guarantee responsiveness to new technological directions and
challenges. The Director manages basic and applied research,
development, and engineering programs in atmosphere-terrain
interactions, signature propagation, chemical and biological affects on
Army and Corps' Civil Works activities.

QUALIFICATIONS
This is a Senior Executive Service (SES) position. New appointees to the
SES must have their managerial qualifications approved by the Office of
Personnel Management and serve a one-year probationary period. SES
members are subject to reassignment requiring them to be mobile. A
degree in engineering, science, mathematics, or operations research or
technology area closely related to cold regions science and technology
is required. An advanced degree is desirable.
