BACKGROUND
The Circumpolar Agricultural Association (CAA) was founded in 1995. CAA
is a non-government organization with the aim to be a forum for people
involved in northern agriculture as farmers, advisors, politicians,
scientists, or students.

Traditionally, agriculture has had a very important role in the
development of northern regions. However, global trade, agricultural
policies, and better communication has changed this role, and
competition on the local market is more difficult today. Even with these
new challenges, agriculture is still significant and in many areas it is
the base for jobs and living in rural areas. It is important for an
efficient use of local resources, promotion of jobs and regional
development, and it encourages people to live in these areas.

THEME
The conference has two main themes:

  • The role of agriculture for ecologically sustainable resource
    management in the North

  • The role of agriculture for rural development and a sustainable rural
    economy

You are invited to send abstracts for oral presentations within the
overall themes. Papers can cover scientific studies, descriptions of
projects in rural northern areas, or be policy documents. Abstracts
