The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Alaska
Fairbanks (UAF) invites applications for a tenure track faculty position
at the Assistant Professor level in the area of Cold Regions Heat and
Mass Transfer Processes and the Effects of Temperature on Engineering
Systems starting in the 2004-05 academic year.

QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates should have an earned PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering or
closely related field with a strong background in the areas of heat and
mass transfer. Preference will be given to candidates with the potential
to advance our understanding of the effects of cold climates on
engineering systems and the mitigation of related adverse effects.
Effective English language communication and ability to work as part of
a team are essential skills. The department offers an ABET accredited
BS degree along with MS, and PhD degrees in Mechanical Engineering.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach at the graduate and
undergraduate levels and develop an externally funded research program
that is strongly integrated with the UAF EPSCoR Climate Impacts Program.
Teaching and research potential will be heavily weighted in the hiring
decision.

A competitive salary and benefits package is available. The successful
candidate must be eligible to work in the United States in compliance

possess a valid Social Security card. All Nonresident Aliens must
provide proof of eligibility to work.
