The Bjerknes Centenary 2004: Climate Change in High Latitudes Conference
will be held in Bergen, Norway in September. The deadline for submission
of abstracts and grant applications is Saturday, 15 May 2004.

BACKGROUND
The international research community is joining efforts in the 21st
century to tackle global warming due to human enhanced greenhouse effect
and potential climate change. Climate predictions indicate that climate
change will be amplified at polar and sub-polar areas, however, major
uncertainties arise with predictions at the regional scale.

Reducing uncertainty in the science underlying regional climate
changes in high latitudes is a major research challenge, thus, it is
essential to underpin policy-making and adaptation/mitigation
strategies. Please join us to enhance the understanding of the climate
system and climate change in polar and sub-polar regions through major
discussions with world-class scientists and selected contributions.
