The Alaska Science Center, a research center of the U.S. Geological
Survey (USGS), is advertising to all sources a science management
position within its offices in Anchorage Alaska. The position will be
filled as a GS 15 scientist.

The Alaska Science Center integrates the biological, geology, geography,
and water science activities of the USGS in Alaska. The selectee of this
position will serve as senior science manager and line supervisor of the
Biology/Geography Science Office. As such, the selectee serves as a
member of the Center Director's senior management team and is
responsible for the planning, coordination, and implementation of both
Geography Discipline programs in Alaska (e.g., Geographic Analysis and
Monitoring, Land Remote Sensing, and Cooperative Topographic mapping)
and leadership of Biological Resource Discipline studies to address
Department of the Interior concerns in areas such as anadromous
fisheries, marine mammals, migratory birds, and inventory and monitoring
design for federal lands. The incumbent identifies and facilitates
opportunities to integrate Center capabilities to better address biology
and geography science goals in Alaska.
