The University of the Arctic Field School is seeking additional courses
and programs to be listed in its online Field School Catalogue. If you
or your institution organize a northern field course in 2005, please
contact the Field School program chair, Eystein Markusson or Kjell Tore
Hansen at fieldschool [at] uarctic.org with details of your activity.

The University of the Arctic (UArctic) is a cooperative network of
northern universities, colleges, and other organizations committed to
higher education and research. UArctic members share resources,
facilities, and expertise to build post-secondary educational programs
that are relevant and accessible to northern students. Our overall goal
is to create a strong and sustainable circumpolar region by empowering
northerners and northern communities through education and shared
knowledge.

Field courses affiliated with the University of the Arctic are organized
under the umbrella of a UArctic Field School. To promote cooperation
between courses and foster circumpolar exchange, the UArctic Field
School provides an organizational hub for individual field courses,
including streamlining application procedures, engaging in cooperative
activities, developing common funding approaches, providing assistance
in identifying students, and creating broader student networking between
courses. Most of the field courses existed independently before becoming
affiliated with UArctic.

Courses to be included in the list should have a significant field
component. Generally, the courses last from two to five weeks. Courses
to be included in the UArctic Field School catalogue must adhere to the
general principles of the University of the Arctic. The information
submitted should include start and end dates, application deadline,
location, discipline, academic level, course credit equivalents, contact
person, general description, prerequisites, costs, and application
instructions.

To be included in the catalogue, please send course information to the
UArctic Field School program chair Eystein Markusson or Kjell Tore
Hansen at fieldschool [at] uarctic.org.
