The international symposium, held in Beijing in October 2004, sought to
identify the projected effects of climate change in a selected set of
regions with respect to the question of tolerable limits to climate
change within the framework of consideration of Article 2 of the United
Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.

The symposium was organized by the European Climate Forum and the
Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research in co-operation with the
Institute of Atmospheric Physics as well as the Nansen-Zhu International
Research Centre (Beijing), Beijing University, Research Centre for
Sustainable Development (Beijing), and the Sino-German Centre for Science
Promotion (Beijing).
