The SEARCH Sea Ice Action Team (SIAT) aims to advance awareness and understanding of the impacts of Arctic sea-ice loss by enabling collaboration, community engagement, and communication.
In response to dramatic reductions in Arctic sea ice, the SIAT is developing Sea Ice Matters to illuminate the connections between the science, key societal issues, and stakeholder needs.
Communicating why sea ice matters. Sea Ice Matters aims to:
- Provide a trusted, accessible, comprehensive, and timely source of information about Arctic sea ice and the impacts of its loss;
- Facilitate the science community in collaboratively communicating important scientific knowledge to broad audiences;
- Support sustained and sophisticated dialogues between scientists and decision-makers, the media, Arctic residents, and other stakeholder groups; and
- Complement the existing communication efforts of other Arctic-focused institutions, research programs, and scientists.
