His research interests lie primarily in the area of geochemical processes and landscape evolution in cold climates. He has conducted research in Swedish Lapland over the past fifteen years, as well as in the Jotenheimen of Norway, the Juneau Icefield of Alaska, and the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. He and his research colleagues have published over 100 papers in the major geomorphology journals and in specialized monographic volumes.
