Dr. Lane completed his Ph.D. at Carleton University (Ottawa) in 1985 and taught Structural Geology there for two years. Between 1976 and 1986, his research included geological mapping, structural analysis and engineering geology in the Omineca Belt of southeastern British Columbia. Since 1986, as a Research Scientist at the Geological Survey of Canada, he has studied crustal structure and tectonic evolution of the northern Yukon, Beaufort-Mackenzie Basin and Arctic region. He has also mapped in the Foothills of northeastern British Columbia and adjacent southern Yukon and Northwest Territories.
