She has worked for many years in field expeditions to the Arctic, Antarctic, and temperate regions, with a sprinkling of tropical cruises. Current emphasis is in the deployment of ice-tethered chemical observing buoys (O-Buoys for atmospheric O3, BrO, CO2, and meteorological measurements, to be expanded to seawater chemical parameters) and Arctic floats equipped with physical and bio-optical sensors.

Interests

Sea Ice

Science Specialties

marine geochemistry, phytoplankton, air-sea-ice interactions

Current Research

Biology of sulfur-containing gases and halogenated gases. Distribution of these gaseous emissions and algae that produce them. Why and what controls their production. Biological modulation and biogeochemical cycling of carbon and sulfur, air-sea exchange.
