Served in destroyer/frigates mostly in weapons/ASW-related positions. Commanded a 172' MSO, USS PLEDGE with a tour in Vietnam. Commanded a frigate ,USS CONNOLE. Eight deployments to the Med/Black Sea and Baltic Sea. Served as Force ASW Officer of COMCRUDESLANT and COMNAVSURFLANT for 41/2 years. Commanded Destroyer Squadron 26. Served as Chief Of Staff of CINCUSNAVEUR. Two final tour of duty on the CNO Staff as ASW Officer and Oceanographer of the Navy. Upon retirement , I was the Arctic Research Coordinator and the VP for Marine Operations for 14 years at WHOI overseeing the operation of several UNOLS ships as well the HOV ALVIN and several submersibles. I was awarded five Legions of Merit and the Civilian Superior Achievement Award. Married with four children.
