Orono , Maine 04469United StatesBioDr. Paul Andrew Mayewski is Director of the Climate Change Institute and Distinguished Professor in the School of Earth and Climate Sciences, School of Marine Sciences, School of Policy and International Affairs, and School of Business at the University of Maine. He is the leader of >55 expeditions to some of the remotest polar and high altitude reaches of the planet. He has >400 scientific publications, received numerous honors such as the internationally awarded Inaugural Medal for Excellence in Antarctic Research, the Explorers Club Lowell Thomas Medal and the International Glaciological Society Seligman Crystal, developed and led major international climate change research programs in Antarctica, Greenland and Asia, numerous outreach efforts (eg., the American Museum of Natural History and Boston Museum of Science), released two popular books, appears regularly in media such as CBS 60 Minutes and NOVA, and highlighted in several award winning films (eg., 2014 Emmy winner “Years of Living Dangerously”).
