In October 2003, the National Science Foundation's Arctic Research Support and Logistics (RSL) program sponsored a meeting on North Slope GIS Efforts in Support of Research and Logistics. The meeting was held at the Bell Harbor International Conference Center in Seattle, Washington.

The goal of this meeting was to survey and discuss synergistic GIS efforts with respect to research and logistic support on the North Slope of Alaska. The meeting included presentations and discussions on the development of GIS initiatives on the North Slope by various groups and the progress that has been made in the context of the recommendations from the 2001 Arctic GIS Workshop.
