The Interagency Arctic Research Policy Committee (IARPC) will host a
webinar entitled "Indigenous Arctic Languages" on Wednesday, 27 May 2015
at 3:00-4:00 p.m. EDT. Speakers will include Lenore Grenoble, B. Yaayuk
Alvanna-Stimple, and Kathy Sikorski.

This webinar will focus on the status of Arctic indigenous languages and
certain practical steps to encourage their use and continuity during the
forthcoming U.S. chairmanship of the Arctic Council. Speakers will cover
the recent 'From Assessment to Vitality' international symposium, as
well as the activities of the Alaska Native Languages Preservation and
Advisory Council. The vitality of Native languages is now being viewed
as a symbol of well-being and important indicator of community
sustainability by the growing number of Arctic residents, community
activists, and government agencies.
