    Education, Outreach, and Communications Session
    Arctic Change 2014

Organizers announce a call for abstracts and participation in Education,
Outreach, and Communications (EOS) Session T-22, entitled "Are we
successfully linking scientific research to education, public policy,
and environmental awareness?" This session will convene during the
Arctic Change 2014 conference being held 8-12 December 2014 in Ottawa
Canada.

This session will focus on EOS program assessment. Organizers invite
individuals currently involved in EOC activities, and who are assessing
impacts of these programs, to present their findings, share the
questions they ask, and engage the audience in a discussion on common
challenges and barriers to program assessment, over a range of
activities including classroom visits, in-field experiences, and
systematic initiatives.

The session will include five 15-minute oral presentations, one
30-minute overview or summary presentation, poster presentations, and a
separate 45-minute round table or panel discussion with key individuals
who are actively assessing programs for program evaluation and research.
Additional time slots may be provided if needed.

Abstract submission deadline: Friday, 3 October 2014.

    Gender Equality in the Arctic
    30-31 October 2014

Organizers announce a call for registration for the Gender Equality in
the Arctic conference, which will convene 30-31 October 2014 in
Akureyri, Iceland.

This conference will focus broadly on the living condition of women and
men throughout the circumpolar north, addressing key issues such as
access to and control over resources, representation in decision-making
positions, political participation, regional development, human
security, and material and cultural well-being.

The conference will provide a forum for government representatives,
policy makers, academics and a wide range of other stakeholders from the
business community, resource managers and users, community leaders, and
representatives form non-governmental organizations to meet and lay a
foundation for a network of stakeholders promoting gender equality in
the Arctic.

Plenary session will include:

  • Gender Equality and the Arctic: Current Realities, Future Challenges;
  • Political Representation and Participation in Decision-making:
    Gendered Dimensions;
  • Regional Socio-Economic Development and its Gendered Impacts;
  • Climate and Environmental Change, Natural Resource Development, and
    Gender;- Human Security: Gendered Aspects;
  • Human Capital and Gender: Migration, Mobility, Education and
    Adaptation; and
  • (Re-) Construction of Gender in the Arctic.

  1. Third Circular and Call for Abstracts and Registration
    ASSW 2015, ISAR-4, and ICARP III Symposium
    23-30 April 2015

Organizers announce availability of the third circular for the Arctic
Science Summit Week (ASSW) 2015 and a call for abstracts and
registration to the associated Fourth International Symposium on Arctic
Research (ISAR-4) and the Third International Conference on Arctic
Research Planning (ICARP III). ASSW business meetings will convene 23-25
April 2015. The ISAR-4 and the ICARP III symposium will convene 27-30
April 2015. All three meetings will be held in Toyama, Japan.

ASSW is the annual gathering of international organizations engaged in
supporting and facilitating Arctic research. The purpose of the summit
is to provide opportunities for coordination, collaboration, and
cooperation in all areas of Arctic science.

The combined four-day ISAR-4 and ICARP III Symposium will be composed of
plenary presentations, panel discussions, and parallel sessions
addressing both the ISAR-4 theme, "Rapid Change of the Arctic Climate
System and its Global Influence," and the ICARP III theme, "Integrating
Arctic Research: A Roadmap for the Future."

Abstract submission deadline: Monday, 10 November 2014.
