  1. Call for Nominations
    NPRB Science and Advisory Panels

The North Pacific Research Board is seeking nominations for qualified
candidates to fill seats on its Science and Advisory Panels. There are
four seats on the NPRB Science Panel and three seats on its Advisory
Panel, all of which will be vacant as of 1 June 2014 due to term limits.

In addition to considering input from external reviews, NPRB relies upon
its Science and Advisory Panels to fund the most meritorious science
projects that address pressing fishery management and ecosystem
information needs.

Desired qualifications for Science Panel members include expertise in
one or more of the following subject areas:

- Oceanography
- Ecosystem dynamics
- Fish ecology
- Marine mammal or seabird biology (including diseases/contaminants)
- Marine fisheries management
- Stock assessment modeling
- Socioeconomics or social science

Strong candidates will also demonstrate knowledge of pressing fisheries
management issues, research needs, and priorities of state and/or
federal managers. Candidates are selected by the board for their
expertise, broad perspective, long experience, and leadership in areas
important to the NPRB research.

The Advisory Panel represents user groups and other interested parties
from various regions within the board's purview (i.e. Gulf of Alaska,
Bering Sea, Arctic Ocean). Nominations are sought from individuals with
practical knowledge and experience in one or more of these large marine
regions. Of the three seats that expire in 2014, one represents the Gulf
of Alaska and two represent the Arctic Ocean.

Nomination deadline: Friday, 28 February 2014.
