This 1.5-day session will result in a short draft document at the meeting that articulates a current SEARCH vision, goals, and objectives. Following this document, an implementation strategy and action plan will be developed. Questions that should be answered during this 1.5-day strategic planning session include:

  1. Define a clear long-term (5-year) vision for SEARCH with a short vision statement
    • What would a successful SEARCH look like in 5 years?
    • What is SEARCH? An umbrella structure to coordinate sets of projects, as a funding source to implement new scientific priorities, a structure and process that can synthesize ongoing research, etc.?
  2. Define and prioritize clear, tractable goals for SEARCH over a 5-year timeframe
    • What are goals for SEARCH for the next 5 years?
    • What are specific objectives for observing, understanding, responding, and any other relevant areas?
    • What are anticipated outcomes and measures of success for each of these objectives?
  3. What is the role of the SSC and SEARCH Panels in meeting these goals and objectives?
