Paleoclimatology and climate variability during the Holocene (reconstruction of natural and 'human' induced climate variability over societal relevant timescales [decades to centuries] from climatologically 'sensitive' areas. Hindcasting climatic trends from a variety of so-called 'natural archives' such as Arctic lake sediments, peat sequences and eolian deposits. Limnological monitoring through two annual cycles of trophically distinct shallow lakes in West Greenland and a comparison of short core sedimentary data with meteorological records (GALE-project ' Greenland Arctic lake Experiment. Involved in the proposed EU-funded ARCTIFACT project.
