Alaska Ocean Observing System
AOOS is one of eleven regional associations around the US. We facilitate coordination between agencies collecting ocean observational information and fund research projects aimed at filling key gaps in coverage in the Alaska region. We also provide the public with a wide variety of ocean observational data and data products through an interactive, map based data portal on our website at AOOS.org.

Cold Climate Housing Research Center
The Cold Climate Housing Research Center (CCHRC) is an industry-based, nonprofit corporation created to facilitate the development, use, and testing of energy-efficient, durable, healthy, and cost-effective building technologies for people living in circumpolar regions around the globe.
Located in Fairbanks, Alaska, the Research Center was conceived and developed by members of the Alaska State Home Builders Association and represents more than 1,200 building industry firms and groups. Ninety percent of CCHRC's charter members are general contractors from across the state. The Alaska professional building community is highly regarded as a national leader in energy-efficient housing design and construction, boasting the largest per capita builders' association in the nation.

Ice911 Research Corporation
With a principle of first, do no harm, Ice911 Research (Ice911) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to slow climate change devastation related to Arctic ice melt. Ice911 focuses on slowing ice melt the Arctic because it's the area where we can make the largest impact on global temperatures. The ice in the Arctic acts like a global heat shield, reflecting heat that would otherwise warm the ocean and destabilize global weather.
Ice911’s is developing and deploying a solution that uses environmentally benign materials to work like bright multi-year ice in effectively reflecting incoming solar energy. Working on strategic deployments in different locations in the Arctic, the organization attempts to do the most with the least and buy the world time as we find sustainable and more permanent global climate change solutions.

North Slope Science Initiative
The MISSION of the North Slope Science Initiative (NSSI) is to improve scientific and regulatory understanding of terrestrial, aquatic and marine ecosystems for consideration in the context of resource development activities and climate change.
The VISION of the NSSI is to identify those data and information management agencies and governments will need in the future to develop management scenarios using the best information and mitigation to conserve the environments of the North Slope.
The NSSI works to provide resource managers with the data and analyses they need to help evaluate multiple simultaneous goals and objectives related to each agency’s mission on the North Slope. The NSSI uses and complements the information produced under other North Slope science programs, both internal and external. The NSSI also facilitates information sharing among agencies, non-governmental organizations, industry, academia, international programs and members of the public to increase communication and reduce redundancy among science programs.

The goal of Pan-Arctic Options is to reveal options (without advocacy) – which can be used or ignored – that contribute to informed decision-making for sustainable infrastructure development in a pan-Arctic context across the 21st century. For the purpose of this holistic project, sustainable infrastructure involves: “fixed, mobile and other built assets (including observing, communications, research and information systems) as well as regulatory, policy and other governance mechanisms (including insurance).” Activities of Pan-Arctic Options center around a holistic (international, interdisciplinary and inclusive) decision-support process to integrate: stakeholder perspectives (especially with decision-makers); geospatial data (from the natural and social sciences); and governance records (laws, policies and institutions across jurisdictions). Pan-Arctic Options: Holistic Integration for Arctic Coastal-Marine Sustainability is coordinated among national funding agencies (including the National Science Foundation) through the Belmont Forum with core collaborators in Canada, China, France, Norway, Russian Federation and the United States from 2015-2020.

The Byrd Polar and Climate Research Center (BPCRC) at The Ohio State University is recognized internationally as a leader in polar, alpine, and climate research. Our research programs are conducted throughout the world. The Center is named in honor of Admiral Richard E. Byrd, America's most famous polar explorer. There are ten research groups at BPCRC, along with a Library, Archival Program, the Polar Rock Repository, and a team of support staff. By law, the US Congress created the United States Arctic Research Commission through the Arctic Research and Policy Act of 1984 (as amended, Public Law 101-609) and in January 1985, President Reagan established the agency through Executive Order 12501. The Commission’s principal duties are (1) to establish the national policy, priorities, and goals necessary to construct a federal program plan for basic and applied scientific research with respect to the Arctic, including natural resources and materials, physical, biological and health sciences, and social and behavioral sciences; (2) to promote Arctic research, to recommend Arctic research policy, and to communicate our research and policy recommendations to the President and the Congress; (3) to work with the National Science and Technology Council (as per Presidential Memorandum and White House guidance) and the National Science Foundation as the lead agency responsible for implementing the Arctic research policy and to support cooperation and collaboration throughout the Federal Government; (4) to give guidance to the Interagency Arctic Research Policy Committee (IARPC) to develop national Arctic research projects and a five-year plan to implement those projects; and (5) to interact with Arctic residents, international Arctic research programs and organizations and local institutions including regional governments in order to obtain the broadest possible view of Arctic research needs.

TThe Polar Science Center conducts basic and applied research on the oceanography, climatology, meteorology, biology and ecology of the ice-covered regions on Earth and elsewhere in our solar system . The scope of PSC research and fieldwork includes the Arctic and the Antarctic, as well as sea-ice, glaciers and continental ice sheets. The PSC staff comprises 20 Principal Investigators, 7 support staff and a varying number of post-doctoral research associates, graduate research assistants, and undergraduate student helpers.
Most of the funding for PSC’s research comes from grants and contracts with U.S. Federal agencies such as NSF, NASA, NOAA and ONR. A large fraction of PSC research addresses the relationships between the polar regions and the global climate system. Specifically, our research includes observing and modeling the physical processes that control the nature and distribution of sea-ice, the structure and circulation of high latitude oceans and atmosphere, and the interactions among air, ocean, ice and biota.
