Paleoclimate Proxies

Paleoclimate proxies from Stora Viðarvatn (C:N, biogenic silica (BSi), chironomid detrended correspondence analysis (DCA) Axis 1 scores, and August temperatures inferred from CA scores; horizontal gray bands indicate inferred tephra layers) compared with an historical index of sea-ice severity off Iceland (Ogilvie and Jonsdóttir 1996; Ogilvie and Jonsdóttir unpublished data) and diatom-inferred sea-surface temperatures reconstructed from two marine sediment cores on the North Iceland shelf (Jiang et al. 2005, 2007). Note reversed axes or C:N and sea-ice index.
