Lake Description:

Blue and Toby lakes, Brooks Range, Alaska. We recovered a 1000-yr-long varved record from Blue Lake and propose to return there to extend the record to 2000 yr. Nearby Toby Lake (5 km away) has not yet been cored, but should also be varved because it has similar aspect and geometry and is also glacier-fed; it will be used to replicate our preliminary results from Blue Lake.
