ARCSS 2 kyr Project: A synthesis of the last 2000 years of climatic variability from Arctic lakes
Information for White Cap Lake
Proxy Information
Lake Description:
Lake S42, V57, and White Cap lakes, NW Canada. These fill a major geographic gap between the Yukon and Baffin Island. Lake S42 (near Toronto Lake, studied previously (MacDonald et al., 1993; Szeicz and MacDonald, 2001)), is at treeline and responds sensitively to climatic change. Its sedimentation rate is the highest of any lake in the region. Lake V57 and White Cap Lake are in northern Victoria Island, north of the shrub Betula limit. Summer temperature will be estimated based on chironomid analysis using Walker's training set, and a new training set being developed specifically for the region.
