Detailed Job Description
Executive Director
The Board of Directors seeks an innovative Executive Director for the opportunity of leading ARCUS, a nonprofit consortium that represents and serves the broad arctic research community. The Executive Director works collaboratively with the organization’s board, staff, member institutions, and organizations around the world to further develop ARCUS’ leadership in science planning, education, information, and outreach.
ARCUS is funded through cooperative agreements, contracts, and grants with federal agencies and other entities, as well as member dues. ARCUS, with nearly 50 member institutions, currently has a highly skilled staff of 18 and an annual budget of approximately $2M. Activities of ARCUS include: identifying and responding to emerging arctic science issues, facilitating science initiatives, convening and implementing meetings and conferences, and developing reports with recommendations for arctic science efforts. ARCUS also manages arctic science education activities and provides information infrastructure and outreach.
