  1. Three Science Positions Available
Physical Oceanography, Biology, and Marine Chemistry and
    Geochemistry
    Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution
    Woods Hole, Massachusetts

The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) seeks candidates for
three science positions in the departments of Physical Oceanography,
Biology, and Marine Chemistry and Geochemistry. The positions are based
in Woods Hole, Massachusetts.

Position: Assistant or Associate Scientist.
The Physical Oceanography department seeks candidates for a tenure-track
position on the scientific staff. The successful candidate will join a
collaborative group of scientists who address a wide range of
fundamental problems in ocean and climate dynamics, as well as
interdisciplinary research questions, using observations, modeling,
theory, and laboratory experiments. Applicants in all areas of physical
oceanography are welcome to apply. The department is particularly
interested in scientists with an interest in collection and/or
interpretation of observations.

Position: Assistant Scientist or Associate Scientist.
The Biology department seeks candidates for a full-time tenure-track
position on the scientific staff to complement existing
interdisciplinary strengths in biology, biological oceanography, and
marine ecology. Candidates in all areas are welcome to apply. The
department is particularly interested in applicants who conduct research
in marine microbiology or phytoplankton ecology. Areas of expertise in
marine phytoplankton may include open-ocean phytoplankton ecology,
harmful algal blooms, physiological ecology, or biogeochemistry.
Expertise in marine microbiology should be in bacteria, archaea, or
viruses, ideally with an ecological or biogeochemical focus in the water
column.

Position: Assistant, Associate, and Senior Scientist.
The Marine Chemistry and Geochemistry (MC&G) department seeks candidates
for one or more tenure-track and tenured scientific-staff positions.
Core departmental strengths include biogeochemistry and organic
geochemistry; microbial ecology and molecular biology; carbon, nutrient,
and trace element cycling; air-sea exchange; coastal, estuarine and
river dynamics; fluid, sediment, and rock interactions; and isotope
systematics. Candidates studying all aspects of the chemistry of the
ocean and its interactions with the Earth as a whole are welcome to
apply. The department is particularly interested in applicants who
conduct research on polar regions or chemical and isotope tracer
dynamics.

Review of applications for all positions begins: 1 November 2014.
