The Sea Ice Prediction Network (SIPN) announces availability of the
Arctic Sea Ice Outlook (SIO) Post-Season Report! The full report and
highlights are available at:
http://www.arcus.org/sipn/sea-ice-outlook/2014/post-season

The SIO is an activity of the Sea Ice Prediction Network project (SIPN:
http://www.arcus.org/sipn) as a contribution to the Study of
Environmental Arctic Change (SEARCH:
http://www.arcus.org/search-program).

The organizers thank the groups and individuals that contributed to the
Sea Ice Outlook this year; there were a total of 88 submissions from
June to August, plus a large amount of input to an earlier draft of the
post-season report. The post-season report was developed by a Sea Ice
Outlook Action Team (http://www.arcus.org/sipn/action-team), the SIPN
Leadership team (http://www.arcus.org/sipn), and with input from others
via circulation on the SIPN Mailing List
(http://www.arcus.org/sipn/mailing-list).

This year, the Sea Ice Outlook post-season report includes a more
thorough analysis of the relative skill of various Arctic sea ice
prediction models and methods, and an expanded focus on the spatial
pattern, probability, and ice-free dates for specific region. This
information is often of more use to stakeholders and decision-makers
than a single value for Arctic sea ice extent.
