The Interdisciplinary Polar Studies program at the Centre for Polar
Studies seeks candidates for PhD positions in the Earth science
disciplines of geography, geology, geophysics, and oceanology with focus
on high latitude studies. The positions are full-time, funded for four
years (eight semesters) starting in October 2014, and based in
Sosnowiec, Poland.

The aim of the Centre for Polar Studies is to conduct advanced
interdisciplinary studies of the arctic and Antarctic environment and
train young researchers in the field of Earth sciences with a focus on
high latitude land, ice and marine geosystems, ecosystems, and polar
climate change. The Centre combines high-level research of polar areas
with teaching and training of PhD students through joint seminars,
lectures, practical workshops, and participation in scientific projects.
Course work will be conducted primarily in English (and entirely in
English for foreign students). PhD students will be prepared for taking
over leading positions in research and education or consulting,
management, and policy.

The Department of Geology and Geophysics at Yale University seeks
candidates for a postdoctoral research associate position in physical
oceanography.

The Postdoc will pursue research in the field of arctic oceanography
working on aspects of circulation, dynamics, and mixing. Candidates
should have a PhD in physical oceanography or a related field such as
applied mathematics or fluid dynamics.

The position is open until filled.

Applicants are requested to submit a curriculum vitae, a statement of
